Job Description

Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

The following is essential criteria:

– Degree in Social Work

– SWE Registration

– Right to work within the UK

Opportunity for two experienced qualified children’s Social Workers to work within Shropshire on a short term basis – up to two months – in order to focus on progressing discharges of Care Order for children placed with parents and applications for Special Guardianship Orders for children already in the care of connected carers or foster carers under Care Orders.

This small team will be supported by a lead who is overseeing the team and by additional capacity in our legal department in order to progress these discharges and enable children to live without ongoing statutory intervention. Children will only transfer into the team once they are assessed as ready to discharge.

Experience is required around working with children who are accommodated and their families and carers. Experience is essential around writing placement with parent assessments and discharge statements in respect of Care Orders.

Candidates need to be experienced and confident enough to be able to work within a small team and focus on progressing discharges.
