Registered Manager – Children and Young people

Job Title – Registered Manager

Salary – £40000 – £60000, negotiable depending on experience

Hours – Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

  • Driving Licence (required)
  • L5 in Leadership and Management in Residential childcare (preferred)
  • Level 4 in Children and Young People’s Practitioner (preferred)

A national service predominantly for young people up to the age of 18. Supporting mental health diagnosis and the services will be geared towards Autism and Learning disability.

The building will be split across 4 units, each being registered for up to 2 young people. 1 of the units will be set up as a Short Break/Crisis intervention home.

The registered Manager will be supported by a full complement of Social Care staff as well as a clinical team including Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist, and Psychologists as well as specialist CAMHS nurses.

Duties

To take overall responsibility for the management and leadership of the Children’s Home as theRegistered Manager.

The Registered Manager will ensure young people receive excellent levels of emotional and physical care.

To lead and manage both employees and resources to ensure high standards of service

To manage the budget of the home

Key focus on:

• Safety

• Providing a quality service to the young people

• Colleague engagement

• Safer recruitment

• Supporting the development and learning of colleagues in the team

• Ensuring that the service is financially sustainable including by safely supporting new referralsinto the service and managing costs appropriately

Responsibilities

• Comply with all statutory / legislative requirements.

• Comply with the Company’s policies and procedures and all other relevant supplementaryinstructions.

• Liaise with and co-operate at all times with relevant Local Authority employees and otherprofessionals, meeting their requirements as appropriate.

• Prepare reports

• Manage the designated budget, ensuring value for money is achieved.

• Monitor and control expenditure of the homes spending.

• Take control of all of the home’s spending.

• Monitor the young person’s spending of their allowances.

• Authorise and monitor items purchased for the home.

• Maintain a positive working environment.

• Recruit high calibre colleagues that demonstrate our values and behaviours and delivery consistently high quality services.

• Manage people matters and challenging situations, such as discipline, grievance, capability, andabsence.

• Manage the colleague rota, enabling deployment of appropriate colleague resources to ensure key tasks are fulfilled, to include provision for back up as required in times of emergency/out of hours.

• Arrange admissions of young people to the home in line with Company policy and procedure.

• Meet with Social Workers to develop, review and act upon individual care plans.

• Liaison with young person’s family as appropriate.

Knowledge / Education / Skills

A sound working knowledge of the statutory requirements associated with the residential care ofyoung people. This will include Children’s’ Homes Regulations, Health and Safety legislation etc.

A management qualification of at least or equivalent to Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social care for Children and Young people. The role holder must have completed the full registration process and declared fit by OFSTED.

Proven people management skills within a residential setting, including motivating, directing,delegating.

Proven organisational skills.

Proven financial management skills.
