Job Description

An experienced Social Worker is required with front line child safeguarding experience to work in an out of hours emergency duty service based in Manchester city centre.

The team is a specifically dedicated childrens team, and are currently based in the town hall extension in the city centre , a free car parking permit will be provided for parking close by to the office.

The role involves working evenings, weekends and overnights on a 6 weekly rolling rota. Shift example is 4.15 to 11.15 pm weekdays, 8am to 8pm or 12/ 12pm weekends, overnight shifts start at 9.45pm and include working from home.

Lap top / mobile phone are provided, training will be provided for liquid logic IT Systems.

The role involves immediate crisis / safeguarding interventions and there is no case holding in EDS.

The worker would lone work when on overnight , There are usually two Social Workers on evening and weekend shifts , with support for designated decision making from a Senior On Call Team Manager.

The social worker will be responding to referrals, allocating work to themselves, decision making and planning, recording and undertaking of interventions, including liaison with multi agencies where available to ensure the most appropriate service is provided to support the child/ family as required.

The team are long term established and supportive of each other, there is support from the EDS team manager , regular supervision,  and Children’s EDS has received positive feedback within the recently judged as Good Ofsted report.

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Children's
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
