An exciting opportunity has arisen for a progressed Social Worker within an integrated Community based Social Work team. The team provides support to older people and people with physical disabilities living in the Chester area. This is an opportunity to work in a Council rated in the top 10 for employee satisfaction amongst its Adult Social Care workers. Practice Manager

JOB PURPOSE: Within the framework of legislation, agreed County policies and procedures to work with or on behalf of individuals and families, to assist them to resolve their personal problems and adjust to or change their social environment in order to improve their quality of life.



Assess the need for social work service including the identification of risk and the need for protection, determine the method of intervention, and decide and advise on the use of appropriate social services and/or other resources.


Liaise and negotiate with other professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to ensure that the best possible service is provided for clients.


Manage and monitor an allocated workload within individual and group priorities and County policies, and comply with the statutory obligations of the Group.


Maintain appropriate records of work undertaken and carry out required administrative procedures.


Prepare for and attend supervision sessions and staff meetings and make use of all available training and development opportunities


Contribute to the evaluation and development of services and new ideas by sharing knowledge about theory, skills and practice with other social services staff, professional groups and interested bodies.


Supervise students where appropriate.


Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job.

This role is a Flexible Worker and this means that the role will be based across a range of locations across the Borough. Many services and customers span across the Borough and therefore you may be required to work at any location in Cheshire West and Chester.

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Adults
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
