ROLE: REGIONAL PANEL ADVISOR – ADOPTION
- The Regional Adoption Panel Adviser will be accountable for the delivery, quality assurance and management of Regional Adoption Panels within the region.
- The Regional Adoption Panel Adviser will be part of a team of regional panel advisors helping to coordinate and manage the resources and functions of the Central Permanency Hub.
- The postholder will ensure the appropriate complex legalisation, regulations, guidance and procedures are implemented in respect of Adoption Panels through the provision of high-quality professional information, advice and guidance to the Regional Adoption Panels and Agency Decision Makers (ADM).
- This will also include providing constructive challenge to Social Workers, Team Managers, Senior Managers and the ADM within Local Authorities.
- On occasion and when there is need, the Regional Adoption Panel Adviser will work with specific Local Authorities within the region to quality assure the Child’s Permanence Reports, on behalf of the Agency Decision Maker (ADM), where the Care Plan is Adoption. This includes providing complex high-quality professional advice to the ADM on matters relating to individual cases when required.
- The Regional Adoption Panel Adviser will ensure that individuals who sit on panel have the appropriate qualifications, skills, knowledge. This includes supporting in the recruitment, induction, training and annual appraisal process in line with the Policies, Procedures & Guidance of the Together4Children Regional Permanency Arrangement.
- Follow safeguarding procedures
- To participate in meetings as outlined in procedures and/or as directed by the Manager.
- To maintain case records (manual and electronic) in accordance with the Directorate policies and procedures.
- Understanding and awareness of issues related to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice and to demonstrate this in carrying out your duties.
- To comply with safe systems of work in accordance with the Local Authority Health, Safety and Welfare policies and procedures.
- Up to date with relevant legislation, guidance, research and best practice.
