Job Description

Stockport Family is looking for experienced social workers, who want to work within a relational social work model. We practice restoratively and systemically in Stockport and relationships are at the heart of everything we do.

We operate in a different way to lots of our neighbours – we have a model of working with children and their families from the point of referral through to closure or permanence. This ensures that children and their families do not have to retell their story and means that social workers can focus on gaining the best possible outcomes with families by forming a long-lasting and stable relationship with them. If you value relationship-based practice, this is the place for you!

We are a good local authority, with consistently good practice across all areas (Ofsted, 2017). We are always striving to be even better, and there are lots of innovations in Stockport. We have good resources to support children and families to enable them to make positive changes, these include New Beginnings, Caring Dads and advice and support from our complex safeguarding service.

We are an integrated workforce and pride ourselves on the excellent relationships we have across health, education, social care and our community partners. Conversations about who is best placed to support a child and family happen daily and we all work to the same restorative and relational principles.

You will receive high quality, reflective and systemic supervision and will be given opportunities to access training and support to help you to develop.

In Stockport, we are ‘humans first, professionals second' and value our staff – we are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements and to support you to have the best work life balance possible, and will ensure that your own well-being, alongside that of our children and families, is a priority.
