Job Description

Full Time & Permanent Assistant Manager

Essential Criteria:

Must have experience of managing a team within supported accommodation.

Must have a full UK driving License and access to a vehicle.

Must have NVQ Level 3 Children & Young People or equivalent.

Qualifications/ Requirements

High standard of general education.

Essential – NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care – Children and young People (CCYP) or equivalent.

Willingness to undertake further training.

Job Purpose

To support the Area manager to co-ordinate the team to provide the best possible support to young people leaving care and to be responsible for the planning and implementation of their personal support, independent living skills programme, accommodation and post 18 planning

Main Duties & Responsibilities

– The main purpose of the post is to co-ordinate the staff team and ensure that all the needs for young people are met. To ensure that properties are managed to the highest standard.

– To maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines.

– To provide support and assistance to young people aged 16 plus in their transition to adulthood.

– To produce written plans in partnership with young people, their families and social workers and to implement and review these plans in accordance with the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000.

– To participate in supervision, appraisal and training in accordance with company policy and procedure.

– To plan, lead and manage weekly team meetings and to attend meetings and forums associated with the service as required, and to contribute to the development of practice, procedures, policy and services.

– To provide a quality needs led service for staff and young people leaving care and to provide their support in a sensitive manner that reflects the companies Equal Opportunities Policy.

– To operate in a mobile flexible service enabling staff to carry out planned early morning, evening and weekend duties as an essential aspect of their working responsibilities.

– To take responsibility for implementing and managing of staff members working through the independence book with young people and ensuring it is completed by their 18th birthday.

– To assist young people in their preparation for leaving care by providing a range of individual and group work sessions to young people. The focus to be on developing their independent living skills, careers work or educational opportunities and identifying accommodation options.

The rate of pay for this role is £14.10 per hour & sleepovers are paid at £70 & this is a permanent full time position. The usually working hours would be 9am – 5pm Monday – Friday, however you would need to be able to complete a sleepover should the need arise.
