To assess the needs of families with children of 0-5 years and to respond to families in need by offering support, advice and guidance appropriate to the situation and in the most appropriate setting

To develop and deliver a preventative service and to provide support to improve the quality of care both within and outside the family environment

To work with colleagues in the BD 5 CLUSTER of Children Centre’s

To work alongside the Children and Family Centre multi-agency staff teams and other partners in the area to deliver a seamless service to the families

SUPERVISORY/MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

No direct supervisory duties but may offer guidance and support to volunteers and will assist in the induction of new starters.

Will co-work with other professional staff and team members as appropriate to the caseload

SUPERVISION AND GUIDANCE:

Line management and Appraisal rests with the Children’s Centre Extended Services Manager. The

Post holder will be expected to receive supervision and guidance and will be expected to work on their own initiative, within the guidelines and policies of the Children and Family Centre.

Post holders will be expected to attend supervision sessions, team meetings and all appropriate training arranged on their behalf.

RANGE OF DECISION MAKING:

To act in accordance with the priorities, policies and guidelines of the Children and Family Centre

With appropriate supervision will make decisions regarding the needs of children and families, excepting those which affect the liberty or legal status of service users, in which case post holders, with appropriate supervision, will make recommendations.

Responsible for the management of own time on tasks associated with the job.

RANGE OF DUTIES:

1 Undertake assessments of the particular needs of families with children of 0-5 years and develop proposals for work.

2 Develop awareness of the needs of young children, contribute to their emotional, psychological and physical needs and where appropriate enable individuals to understand, accept and change their personal situation.

3 Develop, maintain and support, individually or in conjunction with others, a wide range of services to meet the needs of young children and their families.

4 Provide information for parents about the Children and Family Centre services and respond effectively to the needs of parents and children.

5 Use the resources of the multi-agency Children and Family Centre team to respond effectively to the needs of parents and children.

6 Assist in the early identification of special needs.

7 Follow procedures laid down in the Children and Family Centre for reporting any allegations of child abuse.

8 Attend case conferences and review meetings.

9 Assist in the development of support groups appropriate to the needs of the services.

10 Maintain accurate and up to date records and prepare reports as required

11 Assist in the preparation of service plans, targets and objective monitoring and evaluation of the outcomes of the programme.

You must have:

  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
