Job Description

We are looking to identify a small staff team to support a young man in temporary accommodation in Rotherham, this follows a placement breakdown out of area. The young man is 16 years old with diagnoses of autism, anxiety, ADHD and pathological demand avoidance. This can present in behaviours that challenge, including physical aggression and damage to property.

The young man is due to return to Rotherham on 18th February 2022, this is the date the support will be required from. This support will be required until an alternative placement can be identified, the local authority are actively exploring options but at this point cannot offer a concrete timescale.

This package requires three members of staff to support the young man during the day (16hrs), at night (8hrs) this will be two members of staff (1 waking member of staff and one sleeping).

The team would ideally be form one agency provider, as this will ensure consistency in approach and offer safe physical interventions, if and when required. In light of the young person’s needs, the team must have: Knowledge and experience of supporting young people with additional needs, namely ASD with PDA traits Knowledge and experience of utilising de-escalation strategies to prevent incidents reaching crisis. Formal physical intervention training, utilising a consistent method across the staff team.

The allocated social worker is available to offer more details, should these be required. A safety plan will be available to the staff team, alongside local authority care plans and those in place from the young person’s previous placement.

You must have:

  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
