Part Time

We require a social worker with experience of adult safeguarding work who also ideally has experience working in mental health services. Applicants should have strong social work values, a good working knowledge of the Care Act, Care and Support statutory guidance and other national guidance as it relates to safeguarding adults. They should also have a good understanding of child safeguarding in the context of working in adult services.
There is a s.75 agreement between Salford City Council and Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust (GMMH) resulting in the delegation of statutory social care functions under the Care Act and Mental Health Act to the Trust. The postholder will work in conjunction with Salford’s community based mental health teams based within GMMH and will be supported by GMMH operational managers as well as the NCA employed Social Care Leads who are seconded to work within GMMH.

The main duties will be:
• Representing GMMH at Salford's weekly multi-agency risk assessment conference (MARAC) and twice weekly GMP led vulnerable adult meetings.
• Providing advice and support to the teams in relation to domestic abuse and MARAC referrals.
• Acting as a link to the child safeguarding teams based at the Bridge in Salford.
• Supporting individual staff and managers to work in accordance with s.42 Care Act and local adult safeguarding policy / procedures.
-Acting as Enquiry Lead for s.42 enquiries when there is workload capacity for this.

The post holder will base themselves across Salford's community based mental health teams and link in with the staff at these teams. Consideration will also be given to working from home requests. (Office based mainly)

Regular line management/professional social work supervision will be provided.

We require a suitable social worker to commence this role as soon as possible.

Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Children's
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
