Job Description

Role Purpose:

Support new refugees to settle in Calderdale, providing support in their accommodation, apply for benefits, secure health, education and other services and integrate into their local communities.

Mobile Workers

Mobile Workers typically work from a hot desk in an office and may need ICT access. They tend to move about during the day to attend meetings with colleagues, customers, and staff, and attend workshops etc. Mobile Workers are based with their teams in zoned areas to ensure effective team working and co-ordination.


Must be able to undertake occasional evening and weekend work.

Must have a full UK driving licence and the use of a vehicle for work purposes.

A clear enhanced DBS check will be required.

Principle duties and responsibilities

1. Support households assisted by the Migration Services Team and help them to link in with services provided by partner agencies.

2. Ensure that properties being used to accommodate new arrivals are suitable and properly furnished and have completed necessary checks required. Support households to sustain their homes

3. Complete checks and respond to enquiries regarding the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

4. Maintain comprehensive, accurate and up to date records and to provide statistics and data as required.

5. Advise and assist clients to obtain appropriate benefit payments, health care and all other services to which they are entitled.

6. Assist new arrivals to become familiar with the local area and its facilities and integrate into local communities.

7. Make arrangements for children to enter local schools, colleges and nurseries and as a link between parents and the schools.

8. Identify the practical and support needs of the households concerned, develop detailed support plans and provide structured support to achieve the plan objectives and outcomes.

9. Accompany household members to initial appointments.

10. Help ensure that households comply with the requirements of the UK Benefit system and do not avoidably suffer sanctions.

11. Assist clients to achieve their aspirations and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
