The Trafford Emergency Duty Team are looking for enthusiastic candidates to join the team on a 3 month basis.  All successful candidates will join the supportive team to assist in delivering Trafford’s statutory responsibilities outside of normal working hours, receiving regular supervision and support from the EDT Management Team and on-call arrangements.

Trafford Council are looking to recruit an experienced  Social Worker who is also an Approved Mental Health Practitioner to join our Emergency Duty Team. The post holder will provide a responsive, emergency social work service, outside of office hours across the borough of Trafford. The team provides social work assistance on an emergency basis to a range of vulnerable people, including families where children may be at risk, people with disabilities and/or acute mental health problems (including acting as an Approved Mental Health Practitioner).

You will take responsibility for ensuring Trafford meets its statutory functions, out of hours, with regards to Adult Social Care, Children Social care, and the duties of an Approved Mental Health Practitioner.
You will keep up to date with the relevant regulations, policy and legislation relating to Adult Social Care, Children Social Care, and the Mental Health Act.

The role will be based at home however travel and in person responses will be required within Trafford and neighbouring hospital, outside of the Trafford area. ON-call management arrangements will be in place to support staff and ensure management oversight and approvals are given outside of working hours.

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
