Job Description

Bury Complex Safeguarding Team Family Support Worker (Missing from Home) required for an immediate start.

The successful candidate will be conducting return to home interviews with children and young people who are returning home following a missing episode. It is important that the child is offered support as early as possible in order to protect them from harm and prevent the risks from escalating further.

You will be working with the young person in a time sensitive manner to establish what has caused them to run away, what experiences and individuals they encountered whilst away and what could help resolve the issues that the child identifies.

You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work creatively and flexibly in order to quick build rapport and trust with the clients in order to engage them with the service and fully understand their reasons for running away and the risks associated.

Requirements:
Knowledge of Safeguarding Children policies and guidelines and strong reporting skills
Previous experience working with vulnerable young people – this can include supported housing, social care/ work, therapeutic support and/ or youth work.

You must have:

  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
