Job Description
Flintshire County Council is seeking a Customer Service Assistant to join its Governance portfolio, based across Ty Dewi Sant, Ewloe and County Offices, Flint (CH6 5BD). This is a temporary role paying £13.26–£17.14 per hour, starting 7 September 2026.
You will be the first point of contact for residents, handling enquiries and complaints received in person at Reception, by telephone, in writing, and electronically. Your goal is first-time resolution wherever possible, recording and allocating enquiries on the Council’s Customer Relationship Management System and liaising with officers across the authority to ensure timely responses to customers, MPs, and Members of the Senedd.
Key responsibilities include monitoring CRM performance targets, making outbound calls to follow up enquiries, promoting Council services and online self-service options, and maintaining confidentiality in line with data protection requirements.
Candidates must be educated to GCSE level (including English or Welsh and Maths) or hold equivalent customer service experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills, confidence with Microsoft packages and bespoke IT systems, and the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities are essential. Welsh language skills are required. Previous local government experience is desirable.
