Job Description
Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join the Team for Older People, based at Crown Buildings, Wrexham. This is a hybrid role (minimum 3 days office-based) running Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, at a rate of £25.00–£33.42 per hour, starting 14 September 2026.
You will manage a caseload of older adults, working collaboratively with citizens, families, carers and partner agencies to promote independence and maximise wellbeing. The role combines office working, community visits, hospital settings and home-based working. Participation in the team duty rota is required, covering new referrals, urgent enquiries and priority work.
Key responsibilities include strengths-based assessments, care and support plan development and review, Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions, safeguarding adults, risk assessment, and high-quality recording and report writing.
Essential: Qualified Social Worker with current Social Care Wales registration (Social Work England registration alone is not sufficient); experience of adult social work assessment, care planning and reviews; experience with older people; Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions; and safeguarding adults experience. Applicants must live within 45 minutes of Wrexham.
Desirable: Decision Support Tools (DSTs), Court of Protection work, and complex adult social care cases.
