*Childrens Advanced Practitioner – Out of Hours Service – #000B48EE1

August 7, 2026
£24 - £40 / hour

Job Description

Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking a qualified Senior Practitioner / Advanced Practitioner for its Out of Hours Children’s Service, based at Fairfield Children’s Centre, Ashton Under Lyne (M43 6AF).

This is an office-based role operating outside normal working hours, providing vital support to children and families when day services are unavailable. The service runs on a 2-week rota, meaning practitioners have every other weekend off. There is some daytime working to support relationships with day-team colleagues.

You will be part of a small, dedicated team of 4 Senior Practitioners per shift, supported by alternatively qualified support workers and a Team Manager, working in a warm and friendly office environment until 22:00.

Requirements include a recognised social work qualification, registration with Social Work England, and a minimum of 5 years’ references with gaps in employment history checked. Relevant qualifications must be provided as per the job description and person specification.

Please note: candidates must complete the GM Pledge Compliance Attributes Questions prior to submission — applications without this will not progress.

Rate: £23.82 – £40 per hour. Start date: 7 September 2026. End date: 30 October 2026.
