Job Description

Barnsley Children’s Services is seeking two full-time Senior Social Workers for the Children’s Integrated Front Door, operating as over-establishment posts to provide additional capacity at this busy front-line service. Based at Westgate Plaza One, Barnsley (S70 2DR), the roles are offered on a hybrid basis — currently three days in the office and two days working from home each week.

Initially contracted for eight weeks (24 August – 30 September 2026) at £35 per hour via XMS, there is a realistic prospect of extension beyond this date.

You will work within a MASH/Screening environment, applying a thorough understanding of safeguarding thresholds to risk-assess referrals, complete safety plans, and analyse information from multiple sources to ensure children receive timely, appropriate help. The ability to work at pace in a high-volume front-door setting is essential. Previous experience within a Signs of Safety framework and working knowledge of Mosaic are both preferred.

Please note: as the post is based within a police building, the successful candidate must consent to vetting checks completed by South Yorkshire Police. Work from home arrangements will be in place until vetting is cleared.
