Job Description
Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Placements Officer to provide additional capacity within its busy Placement Service, ideally from 10 August 2026. The role is offered on a temporary basis at £22.11–£28.70 per hour via Prism, based at One Avenue Road, Aston, Birmingham, B6 4DU. Immediate availability and completed clearances are strongly preferred.
Acting as a day-to-day placement duty manager, you will be the single point of contact for a large staff team, gatekeeping and quality-assuring referrals to find placements across fostering, supported accommodation, and residential settings for children. You will allocate work, manage staff workloads, and provide on-the-spot support and problem-solving in live case discussions alongside Social Work colleagues. No line management responsibility is held in this post.
Broader portfolio responsibilities include contributing to commissioning and contract management activity, supporting sufficiency of placements, overseeing brokerage activity, and producing management information and performance reports for senior stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in children’s placements and home-finding, is comfortable in a fast-paced environment, can multi-task under pressure, and is able to get up to speed quickly in a standalone capacity. Apply now to be considered for this urgent opportunity.
