Job Description

Oldham Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join their Long Term Teams, focusing on safeguarding and care planning. This is a fieldwork role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week office-based at George Street, Oldham.

Candidates must have demonstrable experience in court work and child protection — these are essential requirements for submission. You will carry cases through safeguarding and care proceedings, building meaningful relationships with children and families using a systemic practice model grounded in reflective learning and understanding of family dynamics.

Oldham is actively investing in reducing caseloads and supporting practitioners through continual professional development and training. The team is experienced and committed to collaborative, relationship-based practice.

Rate: £39 per hour. Start: 24 August 2026. End: 30 September 2026. 5-year referencing and employment gap checks apply. DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions must be completed and attached to the candidate record prior to submission — candidates who do not pass these questions will not progress.
