Job Description

Rochdale Family Support and Protection Service is seeking experienced and enthusiastic Childrens Social Workers to support an exciting transition into the Family Safeguarding Model. Up to £39.00 per hour for the right candidates.

Rochdale is at the beginning of a significant service transformation, establishing multi-disciplinary teams where specialist practitioners are co-located with social workers under a unified management structure. This enables a whole-family response through direct assessment — a genuinely exciting time to join and help shape something new.

You will carry a caseload of 20–23 children, with plans to reduce this to 17 as the team grows, enabling meaningful direct work with children and families. The service offers regular reflective supervision with experienced managers, access to training including motivational interviewing, excellent agile working arrangements, and a friendly, award-winning working environment. Agency workers are treated as an equally valued part of the team.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in child protection work and care proceedings. Five years of references are required and gaps in employment history will be checked. Suppliers must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission — applications without this will not proceed.
