Job Description

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a Childrens Social Worker under the All Wales Pledge framework, based at 31 Chester Street, Wrexham (LL13 8BG). This is a locum role starting 7 August 2026, paying £33.00 per hour PAYE or £41.58 per hour via umbrella.

You will manage an allocated caseload of routine social work interventions, escalating more complex cases as required, whilst consolidating and developing your post-qualifying skills through mentoring, supervision, and co-working with experienced practitioners.

Key responsibilities include undertaking assessments, developing care and support plans (including education plans), working within budgets, and partnering with multi-agency services to ensure best use of resources. Where your team operates a duty rota, you will respond promptly to crisis referrals, undertake immediate risk assessments, and ensure proportionate, evidence-based responses.

You will work with individuals, families, and carers to identify and assess risk, promote positive outcomes, and ensure all plans are recorded, reviewed, and modified as appropriate in line with management supervision.
