Job Description
Sefton MBC is seeking a qualified Assistant Team Manager for their Children and Families service, based in Bootle, Merseyside (L20 3NJ). This is a locum role paying £40 per hour, available from 6 July 2026.
In this role you will support the day-to-day management of a team of social workers and other professionals, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people across Sefton. Supervising qualified social workers and non-qualified staff, supporting social work students, and leading group supervision are core responsibilities.
You will work collaboratively with partners and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure consistently high-quality practice, managing caseload distribution, overseeing performance against KPIs, and embedding Sefton’s child care policies and values throughout the team. You will deputise for the Team Manager as required and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement activity.
The successful candidate will be a qualified social worker registered with Social Work England, with substantial children’s services experience and demonstrable supervisory or management skills.
