Job Description
Knowsley Borough Council is recruiting agency Social Workers for its Child Protection team, based at Nutgrove Villa, Huyton, Merseyside (L36 6GA). The role is available from 14 August 2026 at a rate of £23.75–£31.15 per hour via Prism.
This is an unusually well-structured CP team operating a 1-in-8-week duty rota. During duty weeks, newly allocated cases are progressed to first hearing and then transferred on — meaning Social Workers do not carry court proceedings beyond that point, a significant benefit compared to most CP teams. Outside of duty weeks, Social Workers have seven dedicated weeks to work directly with families: completing assessments, ensuring children and families access the right support, and managing CIN and CP cases effectively.
The team benefits from strong senior management oversight, manageable caseloads, and meaningful input from a dedicated partnership and improvement team. A high level of training is available through the workforce development team. Perks include free on-site parking and complimentary tea and coffee.
