Childrens Social Worker – Area Social Work Teams – #OR106133

June 22, 2026
£21 - £29 / hour

Job Description

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking a Childrens Social Worker (post-ASYE) to join one of its Area Social Work Teams, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a locum role paying £21.04–£28.55 per hour via Prism, with a start date of 13 July 2026.

Birmingham Children’s Trust supports over one million residents in one of England’s most complex urban environments, where 32.4% of children live in poverty — significantly above the national average. The Trust employs around 1,900 staff and operates with a budget of approximately £200m per annum, with the sole purpose of improving outcomes for children, young people, and families across the city.

In this role you will hold a caseload of children and young people, carrying out statutory assessments, contributing to child protection plans, and working within multi-agency frameworks to safeguard and promote welfare. You will prepare and present reports for conferences, courts, and panels, and maintain accurate case records in line with statutory requirements.

The post is suited to a qualified social worker who has completed or is completing their ASYE year. You will be supervised by a Team Manager and supported through the Professional Capability Framework and Social Work England’s Code of Practice.
