Job Description
Bolton Council’s Adoption Now service is seeking an Adoption Mailbox and Contact Coordinator to join their team based at Howell Croft House, Bolton, on a temporary basis from 20 June to 30 September 2026.
This is a sensitive and process-driven role supporting the exchange of correspondence between adoptive families and birth families. You will manage the adoption letterbox service with a high degree of accuracy to ensure data integrity and prevent any breaches. The role requires empathy and discretion when supporting those involved in these exchanges.
Depending on your skillset and whether you hold a DBS, responsibilities may extend to face-to-face support — helping birth parents with the writing of exchanges and, on occasion, facilitating direct contact meetings between adoptive and birth families. Full management support and peer support from colleagues in the same function are provided.
Ideal hours are full-time, though alternative arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Pay is £14.91–£16.07 per hour PAYE (£18.94–£20.38 umbrella). A DBS is not essential but will enable greater involvement in frontline work.
