Job Description

Lancashire County Council is recruiting experienced agency social workers to join its Children with Disabilities (CWD) Service across three Lancashire locations: CWD Team Lancaster, CWD Team Fylde and South Ribble, and CWD Team Preston. Please state your preferred location on your CV. These are minimum six-month placements at £36.00 per hour, starting 6 July 2026.

You will undertake the full range of statutory social work tasks — assessments, support planning, safeguarding interventions, and reviews — supporting disabled children, young people, and their families. The service also supports children in care and care leavers, working closely with Young Adults Teams to promote effective transitions into adult services.

Multi-agency working is central to practice, with strong partnerships across health, special schools, short break providers, and other children’s services. You will be supported by experienced Team Managers and Consultant Social Workers within a close-knit, strengths-based team.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have at least three years’ experience in a permanent local authority post. Candidates must not have held a permanent or fixed-term LA position within the last 12 weeks. Experience with disabled children is desirable; motivated social workers from other areas of practice with a genuine interest in this specialism are also encouraged to apply.
