Occupational Therapist – Children with Disabilities Team – #000B24981

Job Description

Rochdale Borough Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join its Children with Disabilities Team on a locum basis from 27 July to 27 December 2026, paying £33–£40 per hour.

In this rewarding role you will carry out holistic assessments of children and young people with disabilities in their home environments, recommending and providing specialist equipment — including specialist seating, moving and handling aids, and bathing and toileting equipment — to support daily living and independence. You will also assess for and contribute to home adaptations, ensuring environments are safe and functional, and work closely with families and carers to provide guidance and practical support.

You will collaborate across a wide multi-disciplinary network spanning council services, NHS colleagues, education providers, and partner and voluntary agencies, contributing to child-centred, outcome-focused care planning.

The role is hybrid, working across Number 1 Riverside, children’s homes, and schools as required. You will manage your own caseload with support available as needed. Experience in equipment provision and adaptations is essential; children’s equipment experience is desirable but training can be provided.
