Childrens Social Worker – MASH – #000B246E1

June 19, 2026
£39 - £39 / hour

Job Description

Oldham Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join its Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) on a fixed-term contract running from 27 July 2026 to 29 January 2027, paying £39 per hour.

This is an office-based, co-located role working within a multi-agency team that includes representatives from Greater Manchester Police, Health, Community Safety, Adult Social Care, IDVA, and the Prevention Hub. The co-location model enables more effective communication between partner agencies to support and safeguard children and families.

As a Duty and Advice Social Worker within the MASH, you will respond to contacts in a timely manner to identify and secure the most appropriate services. You will communicate with families, partner agencies, and members of the public to gather information and make strong, evidence-based decisions in line with practice standards and statutory duties. A sound understanding of statutory social work functions and confidence in making informed threshold decisions are essential.

Candidates must be able to provide a 5-year reference history, with gaps in employment checked and relevant qualifications verified. Suppliers are required to complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions and attach the completed file to the candidate record prior to submission — applications that do not meet this requirement will not progress.

If you are a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England and have MASH or duty and assessment experience, please get in touch today.
