Job Description

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking an experienced Court Social Worker to join its Children and Families service, based at 31 Chester Street, Wrexham (LL13 8BG). This is a temporary role paying £28.70–£38.43 per hour, starting 29 June 2026.

Working within the All Wales Pledge framework, you will guide children and families through public law proceedings from initial hearing to final court order. Operating within a supportive POD structure of six social workers and an Assistant Team Manager, you will hold a caseload of 6–8 sets of proceedings, adjusted for complexity.

Key responsibilities include leading families through the full court process, preparing high-quality court reports and statements, attending hearings and giving evidence, and collaborating with legal representatives, guardians, and partner agencies. A child-centred approach is essential, ensuring the voice and welfare of the child remain central to all decision-making.

You will benefit from strong legal support, regular reflective supervision, specialist court-work training, and accessible management oversight.

Applicants must be qualified social workers registered with Social Work England (or equivalent Welsh registration body) and have demonstrable experience in public law proceedings and court-facing social work practice. Welsh-speaking candidates are encouraged to apply.
