Job Description

Sefton MBC is seeking an experienced Childrens Assistant Team Manager to support the day-to-day operational leadership of a children’s social work team in Bootle, Merseyside. This is a key role within children’s services, sitting beneath the Team Manager and carrying significant responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people across Sefton.

You will support and challenge a team of Social Workers and other professionals, managing caseload distribution, supervising staff in line with Sefton’s supervision policy, and co-working complex cases as required. You will oversee the quality of assessments, court reports, care plans and toolkits, ensuring risk is consistently evaluated and recorded, and that KPIs and performance targets are met across the service.

The role includes chairing meetings to a high standard, leading group supervision, contributing to quality assurance activity, and deputising for the Team Manager. You will play a leading role in embedding Sefton’s child care policies and promoting direct work with children and families, actively seeking the views of children and young people to inform practice.

Candidates must be qualified social workers registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable children’s services experience and a background in supervisory or management practice.
