Job Description
Denbighshire County Council is seeking a Senior Social Worker to join Foster Wales Denbighshire, based in Rhyl (LL18 3ND). This is a locum role paying £21.14–£28.29 per hour via Prism, starting 22 June 2026.
Working within the Looked After Children Service, you will deliver high-quality social work to children and their families, support placement arrangements, and carry out safeguarding investigations in line with the Wales Safeguarding Procedures 2019. You will manage a varied caseload, chair Child Protection Core Group Meetings and care plan reviews, and provide advice and guidance to Social Care Practitioners on complex cases.
You will work in partnership with colleagues across health, emergency services, and the voluntary sector, applying the principles of the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014. Strong recording skills, outcome-focused practice, and the ability to travel across Denbighshire are essential. Participation in the duty rota is required.
Essential requirements: a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree or DipSW) and registration with Social Care Wales as a Social Worker. Welsh language skills at Level 1 are desirable. An enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references covering three years’ employment are required.
