Job Description
Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager on an interim basis to join its Fire & Building Safety team within Housing Services, based at 6 Brixton Hill, London SW2 1RW. Rate: £33.80–£45.65 per hour. Start date: 30 June 2026.
This role provides professional leadership and assurance in building safety management across Lambeth’s portfolio of higher-risk residential buildings (HRBs). You will develop, maintain and monitor Building Safety Cases and Building Safety Case Reports, coordinate resident engagement on safety matters, and act as the key liaison with the Building Safety Regulator and London Fire Brigade.
Key responsibilities include leading operational building safety management for designated HRBs; ensuring full compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005; coordinating inspections, audits and risk assessments; overseeing procurement and delivery of major building safety works including fire safety, façade, life safety systems and structural upgrades; and coaching and mentoring Housing Officers on safety responsibilities.
Candidates must have a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in fire and building safety or housing compliance, proven experience developing and managing Building Safety Case Reports, and the ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams. A CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management (or working towards it) is required. Professional membership of CIOB, IOSH, IFE, IFSM, RICS or a related body is desirable.
