Job Description

Oldham Council’s Children with Additional & Complex Needs Team is recruiting a qualified Social Worker to join a busy, Ofsted-rated Good service embedded in systemic practice. This is a generic team managing a broad and varied caseload spanning Short Breaks, Child in Need, Child Protection, PLO, Court, Children Looked After, Transitions, and Adoption.

You will develop specialist knowledge in Mental Capacity Assessments, Best Interest Meetings, Court of Protection, and Inherent Jurisdiction applications. The role involves creative communication with a range of verbal and non-verbal children and young people, completing carers assessments, arranging respite care packages, and supporting young people transitioning from children’s to adult services.

Requirements: qualified Social Worker, Social Work England registered, minimum 3 years post-qualifying experience, and demonstrable knowledge of safeguarding children and looked-after processes. Candidates must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission.

Rate: £39 per hour. Contract: 22 June – 31 December 2026. Based at George Street, Oldham, OL1 1HD.
