Childrens Social Worker – Child in Need and Child Protection – #5296451

Job Description

Cheshire East Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join a Child in Need and Child Protection team based at Macclesfield Town Hall, SK10 1EA. This is a part-time, office-based maternity cover post working 3 days per week (minimum 6 months), at £39.00 per hour via Comensura, starting 17 May 2026.

You will join a team of five Social Workers and one Family Support Worker, overseen by a Team Manager, within a service of five Social Work Teams. The service manages cases from initial referral through assessment, Child in Need, Child Protection, pre-proceedings and care proceedings, with cases transitioning to a dedicated Court Team at the proceedings stage.

Each team undertakes duty at least one day per week on a rota basis, and all team members are expected to cover duty on their designated day. You will be required to be office-based for at least two of your three working days per week.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and hold an Enhanced DBS including the Children’s Barred List. Experience across CIN, CP and pre-proceedings work is strongly desirable.
