Childrens Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team – #OR101349

May 1, 2026
£33 - £42 / hour

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join Swindon Borough Council’s specialist Children with Disabilities Team, based at the Civic Campus, Swindon.

This dedicated team works to ensure that disabled children in Swindon are appropriately safeguarded and supported to achieve their full potential. The team draws on current research and innovative practice to deliver a bespoke, holistic service to disabled children, young people, and their families. The Disabled Children’s safeguarding and support team is co-located at the Saltway Centre alongside multi-agency partners, enabling truly joined-up working across disciplines.

Swindon Borough Council recognises that disabled children are statistically more likely to experience abuse than their non-disabled peers and has responded by creating a specialist service comprising highly motivated social workers with dual expertise in safeguarding and disability.

Key responsibilities will include: holding a caseload of disabled children and young people; undertaking assessments, child protection enquiries, and care planning; working collaboratively with multi-agency partners; and supporting families to achieve positive outcomes for their children.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience in a children’s disabilities or safeguarding setting is essential.

The role is offered at £32.67–£42.00 per hour. Candidates residing 50 or more miles from Swindon may claim a flat rate of £100 per week towards accommodation or mileage costs.
