Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a Children’s Social Care team, where you will play a pivotal role in supporting both practitioners and management to deliver high-quality outcomes for children and families.

In this role, you will undertake specific pieces of assessment work, including parenting assessments, sibling assessments, and risk assessments. You will deputise for the Team Manager when required and chair key meetings such as Strategy Meetings, Child in Need (CIN) Reviews, and Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings. You will also supervise non-social-work-qualified staff, complete case file audits, and monitor data and compliance across the team.

You will play a central part in supporting the professional development of the wider team — modelling good practice, sharing knowledge, and facilitating group supervision to build a cohesive, skilled workforce.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised Social Work qualification (degree or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You will bring demonstrable experience in children’s social care, strong assessment skills, and the confidence to step into a leadership capacity when needed.
